About me
Tracie Barry is a lifelong clam digger and the Marine Biotoxin Specialist for the Washington State Department of Health (DOH), where she coordinates shellfish marine biotoxin surveillance testing. Prior to regulating marine toxins in shellfish, she studied marine microalgae and documented toxin producing harmful algal blooms along the Pacific Coast for over a decade. Tracie finds wonder in all things marine, health or hazard, and is committed to serving coastal communities that depend on the ocean. When Tracie isn’t keeping shellfish harvests safe, you can find her beachcombing during the most of extreme of gales or volunteering with organizations that promote engagement with the marine environment.
