About me
Sandy is a Pacific Northwest sailor who continues to find inspiration and purpose on the water. As a first-generation Asian American, she has charted her own path, shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to say yes to the unknown. Though she didn’t discover sailing until her mid-twenties, it quickly became a defining force in her life. Over the past 12 years, Sandy has raced aboard some of the region’s most competitive boats, helped bring wooden boat festivals to life, and crewed on tall ships both locally and abroad, including Tres Hombres, an engineless sail cargo vessel.
Her recent journeys reflect the idea that boats don’t just take us places—they shape who we become. From exploring the wooden working boats of Vietnam, to sailing 7,000 nautical miles through the Northwest Passage aboard an Open 60, and sailing the Mediterranean aboard Draken, the world’s largest Viking ship, each experience has deepened her sense of identity, belonging, and connection to the sea.
