About me
Riley Hall is a seasoned shipwright and sailor specializing in restoration and use of wooden boats. Working as the Museum Shipwright and Preservation Specialist at the Harbor History Museum located in Gig Harbor, WA, Riley recently oversaw the volunteer driven restoration and conservation of the retired 1925 purse seiner Shenandoah as well as the 1958 Thunderbird sailboat hull no. 1. Both now proudly displayed as focal pieces of the museum’s new Maritime Gallery. Riley also brings a background in traditional seamanship and maritime education, having worked for many years as a trainer and mentor for the Atlantic Challenge organization. When not working with volunteers on restoration projects Riley can be found building one of his signature one-sheet skiffs or getting carried away by building something more silly like his little handlebar steered speedster Avanti, which was featured in Small Boat Magazine. When given any chance, you can find him on the water, be it rowing, sailing or simply messing about with boats.
