About me
Kathryn Meyer is a senior research scientist with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, where she leads the Puget Sound Groundfish Program. Her work focuses on studying the marine fish communities of Puget Sound using tools like remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and other scientific surveys to better understand and support the recovery of vulnerable species.
She began her career working on sailboats, commercial fishing vessels, and research vessels in the Atlantic and Pacific, experiences that continue to inform her perspective on marine resource management. She earned an M.S. in Marine Fisheries Science from Cal Poly Humboldt and spent eight years with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife before moving to Washington with her family in 2020.
