About me
Gray McKenna (they/them) is a marine ecologist, freediver, artist, and former tallship sailor. Gray has spent the last 6 years working on kelp forest research and recovery in Washington. As a scientist with Nearshore Habitat Program at the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, they map floating kelp forests all around the southern Salish Sea, analyzing current and historical data to understand how kelp forests are changing over time. When not mapping kelp forests, Gray can usually be found performing aerial circus acts, freediving with friends, or making block prints (of kelp).
