About me
Born along California's Redwood coast and raised in northern Nevada in the foothills of the Sierras, David Griswold made his way to Port Townsend in 1993 to attend the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding (NWSWB).
He launched his career as an independent rigger from 1994 to 1999, specializing in traditional gaff rigs, before expanding into traditional boatbuilding and yacht finishes. David taught wooden block making and rigging workshops at the NWSWB and has been a presenter at the Wooden Boat Festival.
David joined the Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-op in 2000 as a co-owner. His specialties include rigging, structural woodworking, interior joinery, metal working, and refits for bluewater cruisers. He also co-manages Port Townsend Sails, brought under the Co-op's umbrella in 2020. His current project is the full restoration of the brig Lady Washington.
When he's not messing around on boats, you'll find David, with his wife Kim, off on paragliding adventures, flying his airplane, or fly fishing.
