Captain Jeffrey Sanders founded United States Maritime Academy in 1987 and has since trained over 5.000 thousand students for their Coast Guard Master Captain’s License. He was among the first instructors in the country certified to teach Coast Guard Approved License classes offering training in lieu of CG examinations. U.S. Maritime now has live online Zoom classes which can be attended from anywhere on the globe utilizing a curriculum and material written by Capt. Sanders. His maritime experience consists of over 50.000 Bluewater miles navigated primarily by the stars and sextant. He is the author of numerous navigation manuals including “The Celestial Navigation Recipe Book” which offers a unique step by step menu for using the sextant to find your way out there. Capt. Sanders splits his time as a landlubber between Marrowstone Island Washington and the Big Island of Hawaii. His water time is shared sailing his vessel orpheus (46 years!) and motoring his Monk Sr. trawler – both beckoning him from his beachfront.
