About me
Brad and co-presenter Lee Bebout met while studying harmful algal blooms on the Neuse River in North Carolina. After short postdoctoral stays at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen, Germany, and at the University of Maryland’s Horn Point Lab, they both went to work for NASA for almost 25 years, studying life in extreme environments in the Exobiology Branch at Ames Research Center. After a full career studying the biology and chemistry of aquatic ecosystems, Brad retired to Port Townsend and is still enjoying learning new things about the Salish Sea and working with local scientists to facilitate citizen science to learn more about this beautiful environment. When not volunteering for data collection or analysis, he enjoys being out on the water rowing, sailboat racing and cruising on the C&C 30 he and Lee keep at Boat Haven.
