Steam Bending

Steam bending involves exposing wood to heat and moisture from steam, which softens the lignin and cellulose fibers, making the wood pliable. Once bent around a form or jig and allowed to cool, the wood retains its new shape. This method has been used in boat building for centuries and is still used today.
